Absolute Adword Success Some The Dos and Don'ts

I like to express which "old school" success metrics has translated into in this social web world we now live in. When I say you can beat the new Google Adwords pay per click campaign game and come out MAKING money rather than SPENDING money is an adwords revelation! When you want to market the next must have product, can't do without service OR that one-of-a-kind idea that you simply must get into the hands of the world at large, you must make sure you master these concepts.

Dos:
1. Are you using the right keywords? Think like the person searching for your product, service or blog thoughts.
2. Use a Keyword Suggestion Tool. Yahoo Search Marketing has a keyword suggestion tool. Google has one. I highly recommend Free Keyword Search Tool from Wordtracker as well.
3. Use keywords that surfers key in at each stage of the buying process: research, shopping and purchasing. The search terms get more specific as the person gets ready to buy. That's the benefit of long-tailed-keywords. I.e. "Limited edition Red U2 IPod"
4. Pick a mix of broad and specific keywords, but remember to keep them focused. That way you keep from the broad terms depleting your allocation of funds for this campaign while the medium and long-tailed keywords can still make the needed impressions.

This leads me into my specific
DON'Ts:
1. Long list of less than "non-targeted" keywords. The quality rating of your campaign for Yahoo Search Marketing will suffer and equal but higher quality campaigns will get preference even if they bid lower than you!
2. Forget to highlight what are the unique aspects of your product, service or blog. It's not the site that looks, feels, and SELLS just everybody else that gets the new customers! Why buy from you?
3. Focus on keywords that don't even appear in the text of your content.
4. Directing users only to your home page when other pages deeper into your site address specific keywords better. You will better served to direct each Adword or YSM keyword term to the page that has the most content for that keyword term.
5. Not tracking results. You can't tell which Google Adwords or YSM keywords are successful in your campaigns if you do not track the results. Google Analytics is FREE and what I specifically recommend for campaign tracking and absolute Adword success.
